2009 SC Book Festival - Save the Date!

The 2009 SCBook Festival is scheduled for February 27 - March 1, 2009. The 13th annual festival will feature more than 80 authors in solo and panel presentations, more than 90 exhibitors selling books and book-related items, book signings, and special ticketed events including an Opening Night Gala and author brunch.

Robert Smalls Exhibit Opens in Charleston

The Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture at the College of Charleston will display the exhibit The Life and Times of Robert Smalls from August 7, 2008 - September 20, 2008. An opening panel discussion and symposium will feature four scholars and a Robert Smalls descendent. The Humanities CouncilSC sponsored this event through a Major Grant in February 2008.

Acclaimed Author Scott Turow to Appear at SC Book Festival

The South Carolina Book Festival is delighted to announce the participation of New York Times best-selling author Scott Turow as the Sunday keynote speaker for the 2009 festival, scheduled for February 27 - March 1, 2009. Mr. Turow is the author of seven best-selling novels, including Presumed Innocent and Ordinary Heroes. He will speak on Sunday, March 1, 2009.
 

THCSC funds, promotes, and coordinates various humanities endeavors including: exhibits, documentaries, research, planning, workshops, dramatizations, and lectures.
