After Slavery: Race, Labor, and Politics Conference

Spotlight on a THCSC grant-funded project.

The College of Charleston, in partnership with the After Slavery Project, The Citadel, the African American Historical Alliance, and the Southern Labor Studies Association, will present an important international conference titled "After Slavery: Race, Labor, and Politics in the Post Emancipation Carolinas" on March 11 - 13, 2010 in Charleston, SC. The Humanities Council^SC supported this project through a Major Grant in September 2009.

The "After Slavery" conference requires registration. A session that is free and open to the public will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Physician's Auditorium at the College of Charleston. The public session is titled "Race and Public Memory in Post-Emancipation Charleston" and will present a panel of national scholars.
